Tampa Electric Company (TEC) is proposing the development of an industrial-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) complex in Polk, Hardee, Manatee and Hillsborough counties in Florida. The Polk Carbon Storage Complex (PCSC) is planned to be located south of the town ofBradley Junction.
Initial assessments indicate that the Polk Carbon Storage Complex has the potential to store a minimum of 150 million metric tons of CO2 over a period of 30 years.
The source of the CO2 is the Polk Power Station, which an operational 1,190-megawatt natural gas combined cycle power facility located in Mulberry, Florida.
