Polk Carbon Storage Complex Detailed Site Characterization

Tampa Electric Company is preparing to conduct an in-depth site characterization study for the proposed Polk Carbon Storage Complex, situated near the Polk Power Station. The Polk Power Station is an operational 1,190-megawatt natural gas combined cycle power facility located in Mulberry, Florida. Initial assessments indicate that the Polk Carbon Storage Complex has the potential to store a minimum of 150 million metric tons of CO2 over a period of 30 years. The upcoming study aims to provide additional insight into the geological characteristics of the proposed Polk Carbon Storage Complex and to verify its storage capacity.
