Tenaska is actively engaged in the development of a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project aimed at meeting the needs of emissions customers in Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The project's proposed framework involves the capture and transportation of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from various facilities to secure underground storage locations within the Tri-State area.

The Tri-State CCS Redbud project is specifically focused on West Virginia, with the company exploring potential underground storage sites in Hancock, Brooke, and Marshall counties. In anticipation of this project, Tenaska plans to drill seven CO2 injection wells/sites in West Virginia to facilitate the underground storage component.
