Carbon America is set to construct a carbon capture system at the Sterling and Yuma ethanol plants in Colorado. The system will capture and store approximately 350,000 tons of carbon dioxide generated during corn fermentation. The project is expected to cost around $100 million, with $30 million already secured in investment. The captured CO2 will be transported via pipelines and stored in a saline aquifer over a mile below the surface.
