CTV is planning to construct a carbon capture and sequestration “hub” project (i.e., a project that collects CO2 from multiple sources over time and injects the CO2 stream(s) via Class VI UIC permitted injection wells). Therefore, CTV is currently considering multiple sources of anthropogenic CO2 for the project. Potential sources include capture from existing and potential future industrial sources in the San Joaquin Basin area, as well as direct air capture (DAC).
Note: The location of this project is still uncertain and subject to change.
CTV VI is aiming for a 2027 Class VI permit and the project developers estimate an average annual injection capacity of 2.5 MMt/yr, with a potential total storage capacity of 102 MMt.
