Lone Star Storage Hub Project

CarbonSafe Phase III

The Lone Star Storage Hub Project, led by BP Corporation North America Inc. in Houston, Texas, aims to drive forward a carbon capture and storage initiative in Texas. This project will facilitate the production of low-carbon hydrogen at external facilities and provide support for storing carbon dioxide (CO2) captured from various industrial plants, thereby expediting the decarbonization efforts along the Texas Gulf Coast industrial corridor. The hub will comprise two CO2 storage sites connected via pipeline infrastructure and has the potential to eventually accommodate storage of up to 15 million metric tons (Mt) annually. Furthermore, the project is committed to researching and implementing technologies that ensure the safe and cost-efficient evaluation, operation, and monitoring of CO2 storage facilities.
